This is just me collecting all the great videos of Nightwish that I think is worth sharing. Feel free to share this page.
For this one I strongly recommend you to do some research, since is a deep emotional and meaningful song, for both the band and the fans.
Background on this one, because there is a SERIOUS amount of backstory that you may not have been aware of. Floor Jansen is the 3rd (technically, 4th) singer for Nightwish.
The first singer for the band was Tarja Turunen, who was with the band from its founding to 2005, in which she was dismissed from the band following the show called "End of an Era".
She was given a written, open letter (Read Above), signed by the entire band, and published a day after that show. There was some major controversy between her and the band, as well as her husband/manager,
which made things untenable. As her dismissal from the band came as a shock, because the fans saw her as the face of the band, the backlash was so severe, that the local government of the band's hometown
even got involved (it may have even gone as far as the Prime Minister of Finland). The keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, took all of that on, with some of it personal, in which during the next album
(Dark Passion Play, in which this song is the first song on the album), he composed 3 responses in the form of 3 songs:
Bye Bye Beautiful, which was a goodbye letter to Tarja,
The Poet and the Pendulum, which was a response to the fans, and
Master Passion Greed, which was a letter to Tarja's husband, for whom the band mainly blamed for the change in Tarja's attitude and behavior.
As far as this song goes, it is divided up into 5 parts, where in his songwriting, Tuomas uses different characters to refer to himself (such as The Dead Boy, The Beast, or the Poet).
In this case, his response to the fans revolved around a bit of catharsis by killing himself in a song (rumor has it so that he didn't have to do it in real life), but told in the vein
of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum", with Tuomas being The Poet, hence "THE POET and the Pendulum. The song begins with "the end" (quite literally those words) in mind,
with the songwriter being dead, and having his life (or the life of the band until that point told in a retrospective), with the end of the song being "the beginning",
meaning a new beginning for Nightwish, with its new singer at the time, Anette Olzon. But have a look at those letters, a react to a Tarja performance (even Ghost Love Score, since she first sang it),
then see how intense this song really is.

(for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community)

Following the success of Beste Zangers show, Floor performed a series of solo concerts in the Netherlands in early 2020 with songs from her entire career (After Forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish, Beste Zangers)
following that the last and the largest concert, at AFAS Amsterdam, to be professionally recorded and broadcast online, with the support of a crowdfunding campaign.
After several rescheduling, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the concert took place at the beginning of September 2021 in 3 consecutive days.

On March 25th 2022 Floor Jansen released her first solo song, "Fire" and then (on May 27th 2022) she added her 2nd one, "Storm". On September 9th 2022 Floor gave us her 3rd single, "Me Without You",
on January 13 2023 the 4th one, "Invincible" and in February 24th 2023 thr 5th one, "Daydream".
